Hand Sewn Visible Mending: sourced fabrics include vintage cotton tenugui, silk kimono and in house dyed fabrics

A perfect example of ‘Mottainai’, Let Nothing Go to Waste. As this piece was being prepped for the dye vat, Jack the foster dog had gotten a hold of it. Rather than being angry after seeing that he’d made a few holes, off it went into the indigo. There was no way it could be thrown out after all the hours of work that had gone into it. Once dyed and revealed, Jack’s work was the perfect opportunity to do some visible mending. The mending pieces are bits collected from Japan travels and other pieces of my own. (Jack has since found his forever home in Washington, D.C.)
